Positive Networks Powers New ReadyOffice Secure Remote Access Service from New Edge Networks
EarthLink Subsidiary Signs Reseller Agreement; PositivePRO™ Hosted/Managed Service to Provide Secure Remote Access Engine for New ReadyOffice Turnkey Solution from New Edge Networks
OVERLAND PARK, KS (October 10, 2006)– Positive Networks, the leading hosted managed remote access and endpoint security service, today announced that the company has signed a technology partnership agreement with New Edge Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of EarthLink, Inc. (Nasdaq: ELNK), which builds and manages private networks for business and communications providers. Under terms of the agreement, New Edge Networks will use Positive Networks’ PositivePRO™ secure remote access technology as the engine for New Edge Networks’ ReadyOffice, a new turnkey solution for secure remote access that cuts upfront IT capital expenses, reduces the workload for IT staff, and makes remote access security simple for end users.
PositivePRO was selected by New Edge Networks because of its unique hosted, no software or hardware approach to remote access. The service features a complete remote-work platform with strong endpoint security. It is developed for use with company-owned laptops, home PCs, other remote devices that can be remotely accessed by client-based access, web-based access, and/or remote desktop control. The service can scale to support thousands of users without the costly overhead of complicated VPN appliances.
The agreement represents a significant milestone for Positive Networks, as New Edge Networks will aggressively market its ReadyOffice solution to the company’s large existing customer base as well as new customers through its large direct sales force and well established reseller network. This partnership will build on the already strong vertical presence that Positive Networks has established in the healthcare, financial institutions, and educational markets.
“With the explosive growth of businesses with remote and mobile employees, coupled with strict privacy and security compliance requirements all businesses need to address, it is no surprise that customers are demanding new ways to provide secure remote access technologies quickly and cost-effective,” said Tim Sutton, CEO, Positive Networks. “Our partnership with New Edge Networks will expand the use of Positive Networks technology to a broad array of new customers. We’re pleased to play a key role in the development and operation of ReadyOffice as a superior option to expensive, hard-to-manage, hard-to-configure SSL VPN appliances.”
The development of ReadyOffice was a response to New Edge Networks’ customer demand for a complete secure remote access solution that helps even the smallest of corporate enterprises provide fast and secure access to business-critical data and applications. ReadyOffice even provides end users with a means for accessing data in the wake of a natural or man-made disaster, allowing for business continuity solutions in addition to secure remote access.
As remote and mobile employees face greater time demands and less than ideal remote working conditions, the ability secure access business-critical data and applications is becoming a critical factor in increasing business efficiency. ReadyOffice will provide a means for secure remote access of sensitive business files, financial data, customer information and more from any Internet-enabled PC. Customers download software, follow simple steps to establish internal access policies, and can make secure remote access services available to their company’s remote and mobile workers in about 24 hours. In the wake of natural or man-made disasters, ReadyOffice can be in place even faster to help companies with business continuity issues.
